Finding the best snack containers for toddlers can be hard. There are a lot of options to choose from and they all have their own pros and cons. We’ve been looking for toddler snack containers that were easy to hold, spillproof, packable, and durable. We have tried many different snack cups and containers in our house. My favorite cups are ones that can be used as our children grow, but we have some containers that are simply containers for babies and children as well.

Features of Best Snack Containers for Toddlers

There are many different snack containers and cups on the market for kids. And in fact, you don’t need a special kid’s snack container, though it may make it easier depending on your circumstances. Here are some features to consider when choosing a snack cup for your baby or toddler.

  • Spill-Proof – Having spill-proof toddler cups can be especially important for travel. Cleaning up messes on the go is challenging so using spillproof containers in these situations can be beneficial.
  • Durable – A toddler snack container that can hold up to some wear is best. Dropping the container on the ground, throwing it around, and spilling snacks everywhere cause a lot of stress on these containers. Look for durable snack containers that can last you many years.
  • Easy to Use – The best toddler snack container should be simple to use. Look for cups that allow easy access to the snacks, are small enough to hold with one hand and have lids that make them easy to use.
  • Easy to Clean – Toddler meal containers that are easy to clean are best. Containers that can easily be put in the dishwasher are what I prefer in my household.
  • Material – Top Toddler Snack Containers are best in durable materials. Harder plastics, metals, and stainless steel all make the best toddler snack containers.
  • Packable – Having a snack container that can be easily packed is very beneficial. Look for cups and containers that collapse or fold to save space.

8 Best Snack Cups and Containers for Toddlers

I’ve narrowed it down to the 10 best toddler snack cups and containers on the market. Below I have a list of my top picks all with their own unique pros and cons.

Plastic Free Toddler Snack Containers

1. Zip Top Reusable Snack Containers

2 silicone ziptop snack containers for kids

We have and love these snack containers! They fit in car seat cupholders, are easy to clean, and are adorable.

PROS: Made from 100% pure non-toxic, FDA-approved Platinum Silicone. BPA free. Single-piece construction makes it easy to clean and use. Dishwasher safe (top rack only). Adorable and come in different styles and colors.

CONS: Some reviewers note that the top does not stay closed in corners. It can pop open if it is squished repeatedly. Not spillproof.

2. Munchkin Stainless Steel Catcher

Munchkin® Snack+™ Stainless Steel Snack Catcher Cup with Lid, 9 Ounce, Blue, 1 Pack

We have this snack catcher and it is particularly useful for babies and young toddlers for travel or if they are eating their snack on the go.

PROS: Made of stainless steel and includes minimal plastic. Soft flaps for easy access. Light-weight and portable. Parts are removable and easy to wash. Can remove the flap covering and have an open snack cup for your toddler as they grow.

CONS: Lid can be hard to screw on at times. Stainless steel is somewhat thin and can get dented if dropped or thrown. One of my kids didn’t like sticking their hands in this cup.

3. BraveKidsCo Collapsible Silicone Snack Container

BraveJusticeKidsCo | Snack Attack Snack Cup | Collapsible Silicone Snack Container | Toddler and Baby Snack Catcher Lid (Island Paradise)

We haven’t personally tried this snack container yet, but it looks like it would be really handy and I love that it is made 100% of silicone.

PROS: Lightweight, easy to clean, and can collapse down for portability. Comes in many pretty colors. Silicone is high quality and does not get caught on little fingers.

CONS: Some reviewers report the lid can pop off easily and it can be challenging to clean since the top part does not remove.

4. Lunch Bots Snack Packer

I reviewed this in my favorite stainless steel lunch boxes for toddlers article. I LOVE this snack packer for packing my 2-year-olds preschool snacks. It allows me the option to pack a more filling snack since it has compartments. I simply pack it in her lunchbox when she heads to school. Honestly, it’s probably my favorite snack container for toddlers since I can pack a well-rounded snack in it.

PROS: Made of stainless steel. Has two compartments. Easy to clean (dishwasher safe.) Allows for packing combo snacks with the two compartments.

CONS: The entire container is not leakproof and it is not leakproof between compartments.

5. Bumkins Reusable Snack Bags

We have these and use them often. I love that they take up minimal space making them perfect for packing a snack in the diaper bag.

PROS: Machine washable and dishwasher safe (top rack.) BPA, PVC, Vinyl, and Phthalate free. Comes in different colors and patterns as well as sizes. A great alternative to plastic bags.

CONS: Not air-tight so food can get stale depending on what and how long you have it packed in this bag.

Plastic Snack Containers for Toddlers

While I prefer to avoid plastic for my toddlers (and myself), there’s no denying it’s lightweight and convenient. If you’re looking for a plastic snack cup here are my top picks.

6. Munchkin Snack Catchers

Munchkin® Snack Catcher® Toddler Snack Cups, 2 Pack, Blue/Green

PROS: Spillproof. Easy to clean (top rack dishwasher safe). Soft flaps for easy access.

CONS: Made of Plastic (does come in stainless steel -see below.) Some toddlers may not like sticking their hands inside the hole. Some reviewers report that their child figured out the flaps and how to dump food despite the spillproof design.

7. GoBe Kids Snack Spinner

GoBe Kids Original Snack Spinner Bundle with Hand Strap and Sticker Sheet - Reusable Snack Container with 5 Compartment Dispenser and Lid | BPA and PVC Free | Dishwasher Safe | No Spill, Leakproof

This snack spinner is probably best suited for older kids as it may be hard for young toddlers to push the button and understand the concept.

PROS: Easy to clean (top-rack dishwasher safe). Fun for kids to use and makes a great travel snack container.

CONS: Made of plastic. Some reviewers mention the lid can pop off easily if it is dropped. The button is not fully removable which may make it difficult to clean fully.

8. Skip Hop Baby Snack Container

Skip Hop Baby Snack Container, Zoo Snack Cup, Shark

The Skip Hop baby snack container is pretty popular. I steer away from these kinds of containers simply because they look challenging to clean, but it is cute

PROS: This snack container is a great size and a wonderful reusable case for on the go. It has a snap-close lid and a built-in handle and is easy to fill and clean.

CONS: Some reviewers report the container was not very durable. The opening is small so it is not well suited for older toddlers.

Choosing Snack Cups for Your Toddlers

The best snack container for your toddler will depend on a variety of factors including:

  • Where you will be using it.
  • What kind of snack you want to pack.
  • How old your toddler is.

I love the Lunch Bots Snack Packer for packing my daughter’s preschool snack. However, if we are traveling in the car, I usually use this Munchkin snack catcher or Ziptop silicone snack bags. It really depends on your needs.

At home, we typically serve snacks seated at the table or on a picnic on the floor, but we have been making a point lately to sit down somewhere and eat our snacks. Therefore, I am not often using one of these containers. However, for travel, these snack containers are very helpful.
