Best Diaper Bags for 2 Kids – Quick Summary

Here are my top picks on large diaper bags. Be sure to keep reading as I have a full review on each of them below later in this article!

Best for Style (and still great for function!)

Alright, these bags are beautiful! However, they are still super functional and can all be backpack-style as well (which is a necessity in my opinion for having 2 kids.) However, they may not be QUITE as ergonomic as the ones on the next list.

  1. Freshly Picked Convertible Classic Diaper bag –< My personal favorite, but now that my baby is no longer a newborn I use the Freshly picked mini!)
  2. Itzy Ritzy Large Diaper Bag

Most Functional Diaper Bags for 2 Kids

  1. HaloVa Diaper Bag (I actually couldn’t decide which list to include this one on.)
  2. Hap Tim Diaper Bag <-This is my husband’s diaper bag
  3. Dikalson Large Diaper Bag (The largest and could potentially double as an overnight bag)
  4. Eden & Elan Diaper Bag – Top choice for twins

Considerations When Buying a Diaper Bag for 2 Kids

  • How much do you pack? Some of us pack more than others. Honestly, this comes down to your lifestyle; how many kids you have; and how long you are typically out of the house.
  • Style vs Function/Comfort – What is your priority? Do you want a bag that is stylish but may not have all the functionality you need, or do you want a bag that has all the bells and whistles but might not be as stylish? Not to say these are mutually exclusive – some bags definitely have both (and the price will likely reflect that) – but decide what your priority is.
  • Budget – Diaper bags range in price considerably. Knowing how much you want to spend will help you find the perfect bag for your budget.

Diaper Bag Features to Consider

When you’re a mom of two kids, you quickly realize that you need more stuff than when you’re just parenting one. But with so many great bags on the market, the chocies can be overwhelming.

When it comes to diaper bags, one size doesn’t fit all. You’ll want to consider the age of your kids and the features you want in a diaper bag. Here are some tips on finding the best diaper bag for 2 kids

  • Comfort
  • Bag size and storage capacity
  • Lightweight
  • Durability and sturdiness of the bag
  • Water-resistance
  • Easy to clean or wipe down
  • Cushioned shoulder straps
  • Pockets and Organization
  • Insulated pocket for bottle
  • Stroller Strap or Attachment points for stroller
  • Changing mat included
  • Wet bag included
  • Gender-neutral or not
  • Style (backpack, messenger bag, tote, etc)

Types of Diaper Bags

Backpacks

Backpacks are likely the most functional. Especially if you have two young kids. I found a backpack most convenient as I could put my newborn in my favorite baby carrier, diaper bag on back, and hold my toddler’s hand (or pick him up if absolutely necessary without fear of dropping the diaper bag.)

Tote Bags

Tote bags are mostly best for moms who don’t need to carry too much or for shorter outings. If you have two or more kids with you then you may want to have both your hands free, something you cant do with a tote.

Messenger Bags

Messenger bags are perfect for hands-free carrying. The bag hangs across your body and the strap is adjustable so you can find the perfect fit. However, they are not as ergonomic as a backpack, especially if you are carrying more things with 2 kids.

Multi-function

Some diaper bags can be carried in a multitude of ways. For example, mine can be a diaper bag, tote bag, or messenger style bag.

7 Best Diaper Bags for 2 Kids

Ok, here are my top picks for the best diaper bag for 2 kids. Whether you have a toddler and newborn or twins, one of these highly rated bags will fit your needs!

1. Freshly Picked Women’s Convertible Classic Diaper Bag Backpack

freshly picked diaper bag in brown

This is easily one of the most stylish and beautiful diaper bags you could buy! I have had this bag for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. Plus, I get compliments on this bag all of the time.

PROS:

  • High-quality vegan leather with a stain-resistant nylon interior.
  • 10 pockets and spacious center storage
  • Can be worn as a backpack, crossbody style, or even as purse
  • Changing pad included

CONS:

  • The corners of my bag got worn a little quicker than I would have expected, given the price. However, it is fairly minor and I’m still carrying it.

2. Hap Tim Diaper Bag Backpack

We actually own this diaper bag as well. My husband uses it when he takes the kids out and we use it often for full-day trips. It carries just like a regular backpack, making it very comfortable, and it’s very functional as well. It’s perfect for long days out.

We’ve had this bag for over 5 years and it has held up really well.

PROS:

  • Ergonomical – Built for comfort and disturbed the load well.
  • Its large capacity, including many compartments, makes it perfect for holding extra things. We find there is even room for our baby carrier in this bag.
  • Waterproof and easy to clean.
  • Includes insulated pockets, stroller straps, and changing pad

CONS:

  • It is water repellent, but not waterproof. Hap Tim has another very highly rated bag designed a bit different that is also waterproof.

3. Itzy Ritzy Large Diaper Bag Backpack

Itzy Ritzy Diaper Bag Backpack – Large Capacity Boss Baby Backpack Diaper Bag Featuring 17 Pockets, Changing Pad, Stroller Clips, and Comfortable Backpack Straps, Vanilla Latte

This diaper bag backpack is both stylish and functional! With insulated pockets, a rubber bottom, and worn as a traditional backpack style this bag is perfect for a busy day out with 2 kids.

PROS:

  • Includes stroller straps and changing pad.
  • Zips all the way open making it easy to access the things you need.
  • Wears comfortably as a traditional backpack style.
  • Multiple colors available

CONS:

  • Some reviewers note that the bag feels very heavy adding to the overall weight once you have it filled.
  • The insulated pockets are on the small side. If you are bottle-feeding, you may need a small insulated bag in addition to this.

4. Eden & Elan Diaper Bag

Diaper Bag for Twins Backpack Large Capacity for Two Babies - Diaper Bag with 15 Compartments - Organizer Maternity Travel Insulated Pockets - Organization for Boy Girl Children Infant Double Sibling

This bag is marketed as a perfect diaper bag for twins or 2 babies as it is divided into 2 sides with each side actually being color-coded with two colors. It can be worn backpack or crossbody messenger style. The design is stylish, but the bag remains functional and natural enough for dad to feel comfortable carrying it.

PROS:

  • Color-coded for easy organization and compartmentalization for two babies.
  • Can be worn as a backpack or crossbody messenger style
  • Includes stroller straps and changing pad
  • Large capacity and could be great for travel as well.

CONS:

  • Some reviewers found the bag difficult to keep clean and others found the construction to be poor.

5. Dikaslon Large Diaper Bag Tote

Dikaslon Diaper Bag Tote with Pacifier Case and Changing Pad, Large Travel Diaper Tote for Mom and Dad

While this bag is a tote/messenger style bag it may not be as ergonomic for full-day wear, it is very large and would be a great diaper bag for travel as it does fit over a suitcase.

PROS:

  • It could have a double use as an overnight bag as well.
  • Very large for extra storage which could be useful while traveling.
  • Has a luggage sleeve to fit over top luggage.
  • Includes many pockets and compartments as well as large open space.

CONS:

  • No ability to carry backpack style.
  • It may be a little large for everyday use.

6. Mom Kindness Carry All Tote Trio

This is the bag I used for my 2 kids when they were a newborn and a toddler and honestly I plan to use it again this time around when my 3rd arrives. I love it and love the fact that you can also use the removable diaper clutch as a purse. I would just stick my wallet in the front diaper clutch and then remove this if I left my baby in the church nursery or at the grandparents’ house and have an actual purse to carry without bringing multiple bags!

PROS:

  • Stylish and comes in a variety of colors. Can buy a separate strap for an even more customized look.
  • 4 Ways to Wear – From tote to backpack to messenger style.
  • 3 Bags in 1 – including removable diaper clutch which can also be used as a purse.
  • Luggage sleeve
  • Large – can hold a laptop

CONS:

  • The bag is somewhat heavy and bulky. I don’t find it comfortable for full-day wear.
  • More expensive and the cost adds up if you buy the Trio or an extra strap.
  • No stroller strap.

So… What IS the Best Diaper Bag for 2 Kids?

So, what is the best diaper bag for 2 kids? It really depends on your needs and preferences. While I personally love my Mom Kindness bag and am also drawn to the Freshly picked, I can’t deny that the Hap Tim Diaper bag we own is more comfortable and has ergonomic benefits for long days out. Plus my hubby does not mind wearing it!

If you are looking for a large tote-style messenger bag with lots of compartments that is perfect for airport travel or overnight stays, but not as ergonomic you may prefer the Dikaslon.
