7 Best Baby Led Weaning Bibs in 2024

When it comes to baby led weaning, one of the most important things you need is a good bib. Bibs protect your child’s clothes from being stained with food, and they also help keep them clean during mealtimes. There are many different types of bibs on the market, so it can be difficult to know which ones are the best for your child. These baby bibs are the 7 best bibs I have found for baby led weaning.

Types of Baby Led Weaning Bibs

  • Silicone Bibs – Silicone bibs are great because they can be wiped down easily and are typically dishwasher safe. CONS: Some toddlers refuse to wear them as they are thick and not always comfortable.
  • Cloth bibs – Cloth bibs are incredibly soft, but have to be scrubbed with stain remover (this is my favorite stain remover for hard to remove stains like blueberries and tomato sauce.)
  • Waterpoof and Wipable Bibs – These bibs (like bumkins and bapron) are a great middle ground between silicone and cloth bibs. They are more packable than silicone and wipe cleaner than cloth. Plus, you can usually throw them in the washer or rinse them in the sink and dry quickly.
  • Bibs with sleeves – If you dont want to be scrubbing stains out of long sleeve shirts all winter long then you may want to go with a long sleeved bib.
  • Coverall bibs – This type of bib offers the most coverage and protection (even covering the legs and prevent crumbs from dropping to the floor); however, may be the biggest hassle to put on and may annoy an older baby/toddler with the extra fabric unless they are used to them.

Favorite Baby Led Weaning Bibs

1. BapronBaby Bib

This is hands down my favorite baby bib! They are more pricey than most so I didn’t actually splurge on these until my son was 2 and I had my daughter, but they are so durable and worth the cost!

BapronBaby Floral/Nature Bapron - No Neck Tie Safer Bib - Baby & Toddler - Soft Waterproof - PVC, BPA & Phthalate Free - 6m+
  • Machine washable but can also easily rinse in sink or wipe after meals.
  • Made of soft, high-quality waterpoof fabric.
  • Offers a comfortable fit around the neck and soft fabric. <– These were the only bibs my daughter would wear for a while!!
  • Perfect for mealtime, art projects, and sensory play.

2. Bumkins Super Bib

These are also some of my favorite baby led weaning bibs! They are very affordable and come in a variety of fun prints. I love that they are machine washable and can be wiped down. Plus, they are perfect for diaper bags. (I keep my Bapron at home so I don’t risk leaving it behind…I’ve done that with bibs before.)

  • Machine washable and wipable.
  • Pocket catches food that drops.
  • Made of waterproof fabric.
  • Perfect for the diaper bag or home.

3. Bumkins Sleeved Bib

I don’t typically choose sleeved bibs for my kiddos though I can certainly see the reason many moms do, especially for young babies who are just starting baby led weaning.

Bumkins Sleeved Bib Baby Bib, Toddler Bib, Smock, Waterproof Fabric, Fits Ages 6-24 Months
  • Machine washable and wipeable.
  • Has a crumb catcher pocket.
  • Bib sleeve protects shirt sleeves from stains.
  • Made of bumkins signature waterproof fabric.

4. Silicone Bibs

I couldn’t find the exact silicone bibs I use, but they are very similar to this brand. Silicone is great for bibs because it is the most wipable AND they can be thrown in the dishwasher for cleaning as well.

  • The clasp at the neck is resistant to tugging.
  • Easy to clean; dishwasher safe.
  • Lifetime guarantee
  • Pocket catches food.
  • Silicone is druable..

5. OXO Tot Roll Up Bib

I’ve not personally tried these bibs yet, but I do plan to buy some as my daughter refuses most silicone bibs. They make her uncomfortable around her neck and she prefers softer fabric. I like how these have soft fabric around the neck yet are made of silicone at the bottom for a large pocket.

OXO Roll-Up Bib (2 Pack) Limited Edition Sage/Gray
  • Silicone pocket prevents food from landing in the baby’s lap.
  • Fabric rolls into the pocket to pack away in a diaper bag.
  • Machine washable.
  • The soft fabric is comfortable for baby to wear.

6. Bibado Coverall Bib

I admittedly have not tried this last bib; however, I have heard great things from moms who do want more protection for pants as well.

BIBaDO Mess Proof Baby Feeding Bibs, Long Sleeve Weaning Essential 6 to 36 Months Toddler Bib, Waterproof, Machine Washable
  • Protects the pants as well as shirt.
  • Adjustable – fits a highchair with or without a tray.
  • Fits ages 6 months to 3 years
  • Cons: More time to get baby in bib and child may not like it as they get older.

7. Tiny Twinkle Toes

Okay, if baby #3 for me is a girl, I will definitely be tempted to invest in this adorable bib. Plus, not only is the ruffle adorable, but it would somewhat protect the upper shirt sleeves from stains. Plus, it does come in a long sleeve style as well.

  • Extra coverage provided by the ruffle.
  • Large crumb catcher pocket.
  • Stylish design for little girls.

How many bibs do you need for baby led weaning?

Whether you are getting ready to start baby led weaning now or wondering how many bibs you should register for, I hope this list helps! You will definitely want at least one silicone bib, and then a few cloth or wipeable baby bibs. If you plan to do a lot of baby led weaning in the winter, you might also want some long-sleeve bibs. Depending on the type of bib you buy, you may be able to get by with less or desire more. However, I would plan to have 4-6 bibs.

You may find you like to keep one in the car or diaper bag and will want several extras. However, silicone bibs can easily be washed after each meal and these Bapron bibs can be wiped down or rinsed in the sink and dry quickly. I find having a variety of bibs is best for my family and honestly have quite a few more than this with my daughter as I’m reusing some my son had.

What supplies do I need for baby led weaning?

In addition to bibs, you will need some good baby led weaning utensils, plates, bowls, and cups. You can check out my post about the best baby-led weaning essentials for more of my favorite recommendations. Oh, and don’t forget a blw high chair!

When can baby use a silicone bib?

You can start using a silicone baby bib as soon as your baby starts solids. They are perfect for catching any food that might fall from your baby’s mouth, and they are also easy to clean. Silicone bibs come in a variety of colors and styles, so you can find one that best suits your child’s personality!

What is the best bib for baby?

There is no one-size-fits-all answer to this question, as every baby is different. However, I have found that the best baby bibs for baby led weaning are those that are easy to clean and can be quickly dried. Bapron bibs are wipeable baby bibs fit this description perfectly and are my favorite to use both at home and for travel.
