Best Easter Basket Ideas for 2 Year Old
Easter morning is so fun. While I love the focus of Easter to remain on Jesus and the Resurrection, I still love to stuff a basket for my kiddos and watch them participate in an Easter egg hunt. Here are some of our favorite ideas for a 2 Year Old:
- Toddler Bible: If your kids don’t have a bible, this is a perfect time to gift one. We love this bible for young kids or the Jesus storybook bible.
- Board Books: Books are one of my favorite practical gifts for toddlers as they provide excellent learning and screen-free entertainment. You could even gift an Easter-themed book to help them understand the true meaning of Easter.
- Sidewalk Chalk: Most of us are gearing up or enjoying Spring when Easter rolls around, making sidewalk chalk a fun choice for your toddler’s Easter basket.
- Puzzles: Puzzles with larger easy-to-grasp pieces are perfect for 2-year-olds.
- Sandals: My kids love to wear sandals in the summer. Actually, I may put a pair in their Easter baskets this year.
- Insulated Straw Cup: This is our favorite straw cup for toddlers. We use them at preschool, travel, and even at home.
- Bubble machine: My kids love their bubble machine and use it all spring/summer long!
- Reusable Snack Bags: These animal-shaped silicone bags are perfect for toddlers. We put them in our kid’s stockings a few years ago, and they’ve been a huge hit.
- Rainboots: When my son was 2, we put rainboots in his easter basket. He loved them!
- Art Supplies: Stickers, Finger Paints, Washable Markers, etc
- Playdoh: Playdoh is a great Easter basket filler for toddlers because it does need to be replaced occasionally.
- Kinetic Sand: Similar to playdoh but a different sensory experience, my kids love kinetic sand!
Easter Basket Ideas for 2-Year-Old Boy
Of course, any of the ideas above would be perfect for a little boy’s Easter basket. However, here are some other ideas that a 2-year-old boy might enjoy in his Easter basket:
- Cars or trucks – Of course, Matchbox/Hotwheel cars are an accessible item for the Easter basket. My son also loved (and still loves at 5!) construction trucks that he can roll around in the dirt like this construction set.
- Trains: Small trains are another fun item for 2-year-old boys.
- Schleich Animals: My son has collected the Schleich animals since I put one on his first birthday smash cake. I love that they are super realistic and come in all different animals, from wild animals to farm animals.
- Dinosaurs: pick up some dinosaurs at the dollar tree for a perfect small Easter basket stuffer.
Easter Basket Ideas for 2-Year-Old Girl
If you are still looking for some ideas for your 2-year-old daughter’s Easter basket, look no further!
- Small Doll: We have this small 11″ doll, and it was my daughter’s favorite between the ages of 1 and 2.
- Little People Baby Sets: My daughter loved these Little People Bundle and Playsets when she was 1-2. The set she has is not available, but they have other similar options!
- Hairbows: My daughter has been on and off with bows, and we are in another bow phase right now! I love that this set has 2 of each color, so you could do piggy tails bows!
Favorite Snacks for a 2-Year-Old Easter Basket
I save the candy for the egg hunts (because they already get more than I prefer between grandparents’ houses and preschool) and make any snacks we put in the basket healthy but still FUN items we are not consuming all the time. My kids don’t even notice that we skip the chocolate bunnies.

- Fresh fruit: Ok, maybe we are eating fresh fruit on the daily, but my kids still love it and are pleased to see it in their easter basket.
- Pouches: Is it just my kids that think pouches are a total treat? We don’t typically buy them, so we can make their day just by stuffing them in their stocking or Easter basket.
- Raisins: I always buy Raisins as a surprise for my toddlers. I find that the small boxes make them more exciting.
- Crackers: Put some of your toddler’s favorite crackers in for a fun treat.
Other Easter Basket Tips
- Keep it simple: Toddlers can quickly become overwhelmed with too many toys and treats.
- Consider safety: Avoid small objects, whether toys or snacks (like many candy options) that could be a choking hazard. For example, jelly beans are small and hard and could be a choking hazard for a 2-year-old. Choose a softer candy instead.
- Personalize it: Choose items that reflect your child’s interests and personality. For example, if your little one loves animals, you could include a stuffed animal or animal-themed book.
- Use a Reusable Basket: We reuse our Easter baskets each year. However, you could also get a basket that could be used to store or organize after Easter.
- Include practical items: Along with toys and treats, consider adding some practical items like a new toothbrush, straw cup, or clothing items that your little one needs.
- Balance treats with healthy options: While including some sweet treats in the basket is fun, balance them with healthy snacks.
Need Other 2-Year-Old Ideas?
2-year-olds are so much fun to buy for. However, I’m a bit of a minimalist and try to stick to products that use up (think art supplies, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles) or things they need, such as shoes and pajamas. If you are looking for more ideas for your 2-year-old, here are some helpful posts:
