Hi Melinda, Thanks for reading and commenting. I actually used ancient nutrition bone broth powder in my most recent pregnancy. I love it! This post is a couple of years old; I need to update it! :)

One element I didn't see in your overview that people should know about is many plant-based protein powders have been found to contain high levels of heavy metals in them. Especially those that are rice or pea based.

Are the egg protein powders fully cooked before being powdered? I haven't been able to find clear info on this online and since during pregnancy we are supposed to avoid undercooked eggs I've avoided them.

I wish I could use grass-fed whey protein, but I have terrible reactions to dairy. What are your thoughts on the Ancient Nutrition bone broth protein powder? Here's the ingredient list for the vanilla flavor: Chicken bone broth protein concentrate, natural vanilla flavor, xanthan gum, guar gum, stevia leaf extract, luo hun guo fruit extract

This is a great resource, thanks so much! I recently started making a protein shake for breakfast daily, replacing my sugary cereal habit. I love that you used only powders that don't contain artificial sweeteners! I'm tired of seeing people recommend protein powders for pregnancy that contain artificial ingredients!
