Also, I should've mentioned you could do this in a slow cooker, but you would want to cook it much longer, like overnight (and be sure to spray your slow cooker beforehand as well.)

Hmm, that's really odd and I'm sorry to hear it didn't turn out for you!
Did you cook it using a pressure cooker such as an instant pot which cooks much faster/differently than stove top or slow cooker? Also be sure you had the instant pot on manual which is high. We use this ratio of 3 parts liquid to 1 part oats in the instant pot on the manual setting 3 minutes cook time (more time total for it to reach pressure and then depressurize) with a lot of success. Let me know if you have any questions.

The benefit is that you don't have to babysit whatever you are cooking. I put my steelcut oats on when I first get up. Its cooking while I get my family up and while I shower and get ready. When we are ready to eat, the oats are ready for us. Same with dinner... I can have dinner cooking while we work on homework or just enjoy family time.

This recipe looks great, but I am new to the instant pot and I made steel cut oats this morning using the multigrain setting. It took 40 minutes to complete. I think I could have done it easier and faster on top of the stove.
In addition to that some of the other things I have tried have not been that successful. I really want to find the benefits of using this appliance but so far not that crazy about it.
Let me know some of your thoughts.
